Muito antes do grunge e do selo “mtv acústico” o Violent Femmes já abria caminho para estas sonoridades com “Blister in the Sun” , de 1983. Folk, Rock, Punk, tá tudo junto ali…Depois de 9 anos sem aparecer este ano lançaram um cover de “Crazy” de Gnarls Barkley. Ouça aqui.
Em “Gronlandic Edit” a banda filosofa sobre religião (leia a letra abaixo). Logo após soltar um “I just want to hold the divine” a melodia é levada às alturas procurando o tal divino uma oitava acima na escala apoiada numa polifonia harmônica como num coral de igreja.
“Winchester Cathedral” foi gravada por músicos de estúdio contratados. Quando a música atingiu o 1º lugar nos charts americanos Geoff Sthephens teve que contratar as pressas uma banda de aluguel para conseguir excursionar.
